After 8″-10″ of snow last week we were finally able to open our in town trails and the USFS has opened all gates. Currently, we’ve groomed all our in town trails and most of the trails in the forest based on where we have enough coverage. We’re encouraging all members to get out and ride to help us pack the new snow but please go easy since there is no significant depth. Check back soon as there is another storm predicted for this coming week. Think Snow!!!
The trails held up great during the summer and throughout TS Irene. All necessary clearing has been done and with a little snow they’ll be ready to ride. Keep checking back as opening day gets closer and we will keep everyone posted as to the opening and conditions of the trails. Think Snow!
What a great season we had. Great snow throughout the year from very early in the season right up until this past week. With temps hitting the 60′s this weekend, it’s time to put away the sled and look forward to all things summer. Many thanks to the groomers, trail maintenance crew and all the other volunteers that helped to make and keep the Derry Sled Dog trails in great shape all season. Enjoy the summer and we will see you next season.
The trails still have plenty of snow on them. Cold temps have prevented the water bars from opening up too much but there are a few that have begun to show. Rt 7 and access to the Jenny Brook Farm were groomed Friday. Beaver Meadows trail was not groomed due to a water bar but is still good for riding. Although not officially closed we do not recommend riding Moses Pond Rd to Orton’s fields. There’s still plenty of time to ride before it all disappears – so get out there while you can.
Our groomer has been out Monday and Tuesday (thanks to the Ludlow crew for the help!) and we’ll be out doing a little more today. Everything is reported to be in good shape and although firm the coverage is good. Connections to Chester trails remains in good shape thanks to the gooming efforts of the Andover club on Markham Mt. Stay tuned on the possible Friday snow…
The trails have been in great for the previous two weeks. Access to the Chester trails has been easy with the connector trail over Markham Mt being in such great shape - thanks to the Andover crew and their new groomer. As of Sunday Feb 13 all Weston trails were groomed. The warm up on Monday did soften things a bit but the trails still maintain excellent coverage.
Everything was groomed last night. The little bit of sleet mixed with snow last Saturday helped to set up the trails. It’s currently snowing anotther few inches so everything should ride great for the remainder of the week. Have fun!
WOW! – everything is in great shape – Rt 7 was done Sunday and Monday, the Andover side of Weston was done on Tuesday, Andover has stepped up their game and all those trails, including Markham Mt., have been nice riding to get from our trails to Chester. Forecasters are calling for more snow in the coming week so things can only get better – Get Out and Ride!!!
All trails have been groomed. With all the recent snow the trails are as good as they get so get out and ride. And we’re in the middle of another 4-6″ today!!! Be sure to swing into Brandmeyers for a cold drink and bite to eat while you’re out there.
Lots of snow on all trails (even Moses Pond Rd). Most everything is well packed down and we’re looking to have the groomer and drag out over the weekend.
